They just played this on the radio. Thank god there’s YouTube. What an outstanding performance of Hurricane by the legendary Neil Young & the Crazy Horse (from the epic Live Rust album).

Three Videos, One Great Artist

January 13th, 2011 No comments
Last week, Roy performed in a small bar in Tel Aviv. Equiped with a piano, keyboard and laptop, he rocked the place. VJ Eran Barnea was in charge of stunning visuals. It was very special gig and I am sure it is just the beginning of a tour in this intimate format.

Here are three tracks I captured on my iphone (thus the low quality).

"New York"

"Desert Tango"

"Elinor" (performed together with his brother Guy Zu-Arets)

Roy Zu-Arets on Piano Live in Tel Aviv

December 28th, 2010 No comments
A little over a year ago I worked with my friend, pianist and composer Roy Zu-Arets, on a very exciting musical micro-blogging project that we named "The Vibe of Now".

We did it as a side project to our day-to-day jobs but were able to accomplish quite a lot. We released over 60 video clips of Roy's original improvisations to our YouTube channel and got great feedback from users all over the world. We released 2 albums and still selling them. And we put together a live show called Constage where Roy and a group of three other talented musicians and a VJ performed and improvised live on stage in LA.

A few months ago Roy and I returned to Israel with our families and both he and I are already busy working on new ventures and projects. But we wanted to try and keep "The Vibe of Now" live in some capacity perhaps with an Israeli twist.

So we are happy to announce that next week Roy will perform in the OzenBar in Tel Aviv, tracks from our YouTube channel (leaving some space for improvisation of course). VJ Eran Barnea (Constage's VJ) will add his visual effects.

When: January 6, 2011 at 20:30pm
Where:
OzenBar – King George 48, Tel Aviv (map)
Tickets: 40 NIS – get them here

Should be very special. Hope to see you there.

From Seattle to Delhi via Toronto – Long Road Indeed

December 23rd, 2010 1 comment

I recently saw “Eat, Pray, Love” and loved the movie and its great soundtrack. One of my favorite tracks is Eddie Vedder’s performance to Pearl Jam’s Long Road.

Long Road was the opening song for one of the greatest rock concerts that I have ever seen:

And the “Indian” version from the movie is just magical:

And if you have not had enough, as a bonus you could enjoy Eddie Vedder & his guru Niel Young from “Tribute to Heroes”:

Great First 100 Days in Israel

December 7th, 2010 1 comment
Since I moved back to Israel, my goal was not to work on the same thing every day. I am happy to say I have succeeded so far. I am busy working on a number of projects and the diversification is something I enjoy very much. Among the projects that I am currently working on I can name:
  • Organize the house and setup a lovely home office – picture below
  • Getting ready to launch my new company. More to be announced soon.
  • Advising MoMinis, a mobile games enabler and distributor, on areas such as product & project management,  product development processes.
  • Advising a stealth online advertising company on strategy and go to market tactics.
  • Helping my wife set up her BirthSpeak practice here in Israel. For the readers who are pregnant and looking for a unique and different experience – contact her, she is already taking clients for both doula services and prenatal Kundalini Yoga classes.

I have also met and spoke to many who are active in the internet industry here in Israel - entrepreneurs, VCs, and members of startups and larger companies looking for tips, advise and consulting services.

If we have not had the chance to meet yet, drop me a line here or on twitter and lets setup some time.
