It is a fascinating interview where Bill shares his vision on renewable energy and how he has turned a dream he had when he was 16 years old to eSolar, one of the most promising green start up companies, that uses fields of mirrors to produce solar energy as affordable as fossil fuel-generated energy. Beyond that he speaks about Idealab, entrepreneurship and the importance of failure in the life of every entrepreneur.

What I find cool about them is the way the look and sound. They concerts were recorded and manufactured by a company called Kufala based in Paso Robles. Their unique eco-friendly chipboard packaging was the first thing I noticed. Their turn around time from purchase to delivery was super fast (less than 48 hours!). No wonder the band selected them to manufacture all the bootlegs of the tour, and If you are a Los Angeles base  artists who is looking for a bootleg recording service you should check them out.

Moving on to the sound quality of the bootleg. Although I was pretty surprised from the audio quality of my videos that I captured using the Ultra Flip HD , the bootlegs sound fantastic which makes it a completely different experience.

Now I am starting a long project of mixing my HD video setlists with this audio. I have a little over 50 songs to work on and hopefully Final Cut Express will make this a fun experience. The biggest pain would be syncing audio and video without a clapper. I will probably master video editing techniques once this project will be completed around the end of the year.

This afternoon, after a few months of hard work on refinements and improvements, the Aptera team drove the latest model of the car to the Idealab offices.

The updated model looks really cool and is pretty comfortable once you get inside. I have noticed couple of cosmetics improvements since the last model was in our offices:

• Side mirrors were added (despite their impact on drag)
• The camera was moved to the roof. It projects its image on a small LCD display that is on the driver’s main mirror.  Image below.
• The solar panels on the roof, that are used to power the A/C fans, were redesigned and look beautiful
• Logo was added (it would be cool if it illuminates at night). Image below.
• the seats were cloth rather than leather (of maybe they have not brought the Limited edition)

I did not get a chance to drive it but did sit in the driver seat and took a close look & felt at the interior, but those who will attend the TED conference next week could drive it as two cars will be there.

Well, to me, despite the cool domain name, the sleek website and the fancy energy saving calculators you can find there, this campaign suffers from a serious advertising credibility issue. After all, just 3 days ago Chevron posted their best ever quarterly earnings…

I would like to use this day as an opportunity and remind everyone about CO2 Saver. It is a lightweight application that automatically adjusts computer?s power settings when the computer is idle in order to reduce electricity usage (and bills) and by that decrease CO2 omission.

CO2 Saver was released nearly 6 months ago (on April 25th 2007) and since then helped save over 429,000 lbs of emission which equals to nearly 5000 tree seedlings grown for 10 years. Very impressive!

• Go and watch Death at a Funeral. A British comedy with humor that can be sometimes sophisticated and sometimes pretty silly. Still, you will laugh and laugh and laugh…I can not remember when was the last time I (and an entire theater) was laughing so loud and so much during a movie. BTW, Do yourself a favor and DO NOT WATCH THE TRAILER! The less you know ahead of time the better

• If you happen to be/live in LA, make sure you to try the food at The Village Idiot. The place looks great, has ecstatic atmosphere, extremely tasteful food (try the Steak & Potato Pie) and the prices are pretty cheap.

• Watch the Coke Zero ads. Their hidden camera campaign with lawyers is brilliant.

It was featured on ABC’s Good Morning America by Sam Champion and Zem Joaquin (green editor for House and Garden magazine and author of ecoFabulous.com) as one of the simplest things anyone can do around their work cube/desk in order to save the environment.

In case you have not done it yet, simply install CO2 Saver on your desktop computer and this lightweight application will automatically adjust your computer’s power settings (including hard drive and monitor) in order to save electricity when the computer is idle (I am sure you are familiar with those endless screensavers running forever day and night…what a waste…)

By the way, since it was launched about three months ago, C02 Saver users collectively saved almost 160,000 lbs of CO2 from being released to the atmosphere (use this calculator to convert to more conceptualized terms – trees, cars etc)
