Reflections from Berry Sakharof’s Show In Los Angeles

March 11th, 2009 JayMeydad Comments

Berry Sakharof performed last night at the Avalon Hollywood club in Los Angeles and gave a great 2 hour rock concert, and as in every Berry’s album and live shows, it was decorated with fantastic electronica (thanks to Gidi Raz on samplers) and some middle-eastern motifs.

Few other things to mention:
- Adi Renert can play keyboards for rockers and not just for mainstream artists. Very refreshing.
- Aviv Cohen is an amazing young drummer. I was really impressed with him.
- Oren Lotenberg is like an all around basketball player when it comes to guitars. You want to have someone like him on your band.
- At the age of 51 Berry is still miles ahead of many young Israeli artists in his ability to write, compose, and perform fantastic Israeli rock.

Below is one clip of Kama Yossi (with a talented trumpet player I can not remember his name named Lior Ron, who saw this clip on YouTube and contacted me) and I have more on my YouTube page, including Birthday (with Infected Mushrooms). Too bad my flip camera could not capture the great sound quality this venue provides.

The additional clips are on this playlist.

TheSound LA – Los Angeles’ Best Rock Music Radio Station

November 19th, 2008 JayMeydad Comments

TheSound LA features the best rock music made to date. As simple as that. And it is great to discover (and re-discover) every day albums, songs and artists that have made rock music what it is. That’s why it is my favorite radio station.

I enjoyed listening this morning on my way to work to “Album Sides Wednesday” (and twittered about it, twice) that I wanted to continue listening to uninterrupted, dusty, classics vinyl albums, but, was so disappointed to find out that you can not do it online because “According to rules agreed upon with the Recording Industry Association of America, we are banned from presenting uninterrupted album sides on an Internet stream.”. So now I have to switch back to iTunes and listen to compressed and narrow spectrum MP3 files, at least I am back in the car.

Regardless of that, wherever you are located, and as long as you love rock music, you should add TheSound LA to your radio and bookmark the site so you could listen to it online- 24 hours, 6 days a week.

Hollywood welcomes Israeli Digital Media Companies

October 21st, 2007 JayMeydad Comments

Hollywood Sign - Looking forward to welcome Israeli Digital Media companies Later this week a delegation of selected Israeli digital media start ups will hit Los Angeles.

The event is organized by Yossi Vardi and Arnon Milchan with the purpose of introducing Israeli entrepreneurs to some of the world’s largest media companies.

In addition to those meetings, there will be a panel of Israelis who work for US media companies. I will be one of the panelists together with Nimrod Lev (Fox Interactive/KSolo), Shaul Olmert (MTV Networks), Roy Bahat (IGN Newscorp), Itzik Ben-Bassat (formerly Blizzard) and others.

I look forward to meeting old friends & colleagues as well as getting to know some of Isreal’s most creative minds. In case you will be in the event, please come by and say hello.
